Valerie wanted to transform an aging and overgrown landscape area into a peaceful garden retreat that would complement the mature trees and limestone wall surrounding the property. The existing flower beds had become overcrowded with declining plants and dead trees, limiting both the beauty and usability of the space.

Our team reimagined the area by clearing the existing landscape, updating the irrigation system, fabricating custom corten steel planter boxes, building a reclaimed wood garden bench, installing a bubbling limestone boulder fountain, and adding a professional low-voltage lighting system. This project was completed with an investment of approximately $23,000 and focused on six primary areas: site demolition, irrigation upgrades, custom corten steel planter fabrication, limestone water feature installation, organic pathway and seating area construction, and a complete low-voltage landscape lighting system.

Every detail was designed to work together as one cohesive garden experience while respecting the property's mature trees, natural shade, and existing limestone architecture.

Landscape Renovation & Site Preparation

• Existing Bed Demolition: The original flower bed areas were cleared to create a clean foundation for the new landscape design.
• Tree & Vegetation Removal: Overgrown and dead trees were removed to open up the space, improve visibility, and make room for new planting areas.
• Site Clearing & Grading: The area was reshaped to support new planter boxes, pathways, seating areas, and decorative rock zones.
• Irrigation Upgrades: The irrigation system was updated to provide efficient coverage for the newly installed plants and garden beds.

Custom Corten Steel Planter Boxes

• Handcrafted Fabrication: Custom welded planter boxes were built from corten steel to create clean, architectural planting areas.

Organic Pathway & Seating Area

• Free-Flowing Layout: A natural, organic pathway was created to guide movement through the landscape and extend the space toward the backyard.
• Dedicated Seating Destination: The pathway leads to a quiet seating area designed for relaxation and enjoying the garden.
• Reclaimed Wood Bench: A handmade garden bench was built from reclaimed wood, adding character, warmth, and a custom-crafted detail to the project.
• Natural Integration: The seating area was positioned beneath the mature trees to feel shaded, peaceful, and connected to the surrounding landscape.

Premium Landscape Lighting System

• Approximately 20 LED Fixtures: A complete low-voltage lighting system was installed throughout the garden.
• Tree Uplighting: Uplights were positioned to highlight the mature trees and create depth after dark.
• Tree Downlighting: Downlights were installed in select trees to provide soft, natural-looking illumination over the pathway and seating areas.
• Wall Wash Lighting: Fixtures were placed along the limestone wall to highlight its texture and create a warm evening backdrop.
• Plant Accent Lighting: Key plants, planter areas, and focal points were illuminated to extend the beauty of the landscape into the evening.
• Energy-Efficient System: LED fixtures provide long-lasting performance while keeping energy use low.

This project was designed as a complete garden retreat where custom craftsmanship, lighting, water, and planting all work together. The corten steel planter boxes provide structure, the bubbling limestone fountain introduces movement and sound, and the reclaimed wood bench creates a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the space.
